Description of Roxie's Reading Fish 4.1:
Offers an enjoyable 3D animated game environment in which children easily learn basic, high-frequency words from the pre-school age to late-second grade level. Additionally, parents and teachers can record their own words, and create wordlists for use in the game, greatly extending the educational value and the age-level of the product. Word lists are easy to enter, select, modify and delete when no longer needed. With these features, the child can now learn words withwhich they are having difficulty, or words that theywould like to learn to read, or words in a book they will be reading, extending the program's life considerably.

Roxies Reading Fish

In Roxies Reading Fish, Roxie, a friendly, animated, talking cat, plays 'Go Fish' with a child, but, instead of asking for a number, Roxie asks, 'Please give me your cards with' and says a word from a list of over two hundred basic, high-frequency words, which were chosen with the aid of reading specialists in early elementary education. The child either clicks on his or her card containing that word, or on the draw deck. Roxie gently guides the child in selecting the correct word card. When a 'Go Fish' game is completed, a set of puzzles is displayed for the child to select. The child will also choose the number of puzzle pieces, and when the puzzle is solved, it becomes animated and talks to the child. Children enjoy playing the 'Go Fish' game, and look with anticipation to which part of the puzzle will inform them that it is 'now time to go back to the game.' Roxies Reading Fish is used in schools and libraries in the U.S. and Europe.
